Different Types Of Networks

There are many different types of networks, and your business may take advantage of them in numerous ways. A wide-area network, or WAN network, is one that is used by many businesses and institutions who need to cast the network access over a large area. Using this and other types of networks can allow many people to access the data that is necessary, both within the organization that is operating the network and those that may be outside of the network as well. Of course, there are going to be many times when very specific bandwidth management is necessary to ensure that everybody has the access needed to be network resources. This type of management will also allow individuals that must have access to the network to access it with priority over those who may be accessing it from the outside simply to check accounts or for other purposes.

There may also be times when a virtual networking solution is not needed, either on its own or to be used alone with your wide-area network. An IP VPN gives you access to the virtual network that is administered by outside sources. This has many advantages over running the network on your own. One of the advantages is that the owners of the virtual private network are going to be the ones that administer any software and hardware that is needed to keep the network up and running. This can result in much lower costs for your company, as you are not going to need to have as large of a technical staff on hand at any given time.

  1. APN allows you to add up to seven additional links to your WAN. The low cost of broadband Internet links makes it particularly easy to add bandwidth inexpensively at remote sites.

  4. Thanks for the post. Would you recommend setting up a WAN for a very large home? It is a building that has a few different apartments in it but I want to set up a single network, and my provider of home insurance in Stoneham MA wants to know what my wireless setup is before insuring the home (I think it depends on the number of apartments that are considered individual units). Any thoughts? Thanks!
